How to be a karate Coach at Home

Parents and children can work together at home to improve their Martial Arts skills and grow together.

Follow these guidelines to reach success.

Step 1: Develop a consistent practice schedule.

Start out slow, but make sure you set aside a specific time.

For example, decide to train at home on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:00 PM.

Perhaps this could be a good break before you begin your school work.

Step 2: Keep practice short.

Training at home for 15 minutes a day ensures that you get practice in, without overwhelming

yourself. You may want to start out with 10 minutes and work your way up to 15 minutes. It is easy

to say, I can train tomorrow, but if you know that it is only for 15 minutes you are more likely to

make time today.

Step 3: Reward Efforts.

Positive reinforcement does a world of good. Tell your child " good form or great kick".

Parents, just remember to watch everything your child does, overlook a lot, and correct a little.

Step 4: Expect Progress:

Step 5: Make it fun.

Students - teach your parents the new moves you have learned in class. Not only is this a good way

to practice, but it also builds self-esteem, and gets parents and kids to work together.

Parents, serve as a White Belt Karate Coach, and watch your child’s progress

soar as you grow together.
